Relationship and Family
Therapy
Couples and family therapy is here to help you to identify the issue/s in your relationship. The issue/s identified will will be the focus of treatment, establishing treatment goals and planning a structure for treatment for each counselling session.
During treatment, A Nuu You will help the you/couple/family member, to gain insight into the relational dynamics which are creating the problems and guide both partners/individuals involved to understand their roles in the dysfunctional interactions.
It is hoped that this greater insight on relationship issues and distress will help you/the couple to change the way you perceive the relationship and each other.
Although gaining insight is important, another crucial aspect of couples therapy involves actually changing behaviours. You will often be given homework and be required to apply the skills you have learned in therapy to your day-to-day interactions with each other. The same method applies for family therapy.
A counsellor is not a miracle worker. If you don't all do the work the relationship will of course stay the same.
